Props, Music, Mess
Props are permitted but must be easily transportable on a domestic flight or be readily available in Melbourne (as to not disadvantage national or international competitors). Props must be easily lifted by two people. Please keep in mind there is limited storage space in the venue.
Competitors must notify the organisers of any props by email up to two weeks prior to the competition.
Any props or set must be able to be set up and packed down by two people within 2 minutes.
Human props are permitted but will not be allowed backstage until your category due to space constraints. Human props must have a ticket.
Glitter is not permitted.
Any messy props must be used over a drop sheet or tarp provided by the performer and require pre approval by the organisers.
Maximum of a cup of liquid to be used.
No actual foodstuffs permitted (allergies)
Competitor music must not support racism, homophobia, transphobia or any other subject that could be reasonably interpreted as offensive or unethical. Please consider whether using music by an artist who has been accused or convicted of domestic violence is essential to your piece.
Music, MC information, Lighting and Props information must be uploaded to appropriate google drive and sheets by the dates set out by the organisers.
Performance
Performances must not support racism, homophobia, transphobia or any other subject that could be reasonably interpreted as offensive or unethical.
On the Old School stage we want to see your interpretation of ‘sexy’ based on your own lived experiences. If you have never worked in sex work of any kind please refrain from performing acts or stories based around these jobs. For example a show based on the red light windows in Amsterdam or ‘making it rain’ with fake money.
Competitors must submit a description of their performance at application and notify the organisers of any significant changes in writing up to two weeks prior to the competition date. Any significant changes within two weeks of the competition date requires organiser approval.
Competitors are permitted to strip down to g string and pasties. Nudity is not permitted due to venue licensing.
Organisers reserve the right to withdraw a competitor from performing before or during the competition.
All competitors must sign a waiver before the competition.
Failure to abide by any of the above mentioned rules will result in reduction in points or disqualification from the competition at the organisers request.
Competitors and Performance
Competitors must arrive at the venue at their allocated time on the day for rehearsals.
Competitors must ensure they have warmed up properly prior to performing.
Competitors must not consume alcohol or any prohibited substance prior to performing.
Performances must not exceed the time limit of their division. Any performances that exceed their allocated time will have their music cut on the night and lose points or be disqualified. There is no minimum performance time.
Competitors must be in the venue at doors opening for audience members.
The performance pole will be a single 40 mm brass competition-grade X-Pole. You have the option of spin or static. Please note the pole is short (height TBC but potentially under 3m).
Poles can be cleaned with a dry wipe or metho wipe. No grip aids will be applied to the pole but may be applied to the performer's body.
Judges and Criteria
There will be 4 judges.
Competitors will not be provided their scores but judges’ feedback will be provided.
Judges' decisions are final.
